DESCRIPTION OF AFFILIATED ORGANISATION, ITS MISSION OR MANDATE The National Parks Service manage and perserve public lands for future generations to enjoy. Their mission regarding Fort Wadsworth is to restore and maintain the site as an historical and architectural monument. They provide educational tours and tours for the casual visitor. The site is open from dawn to dusk seven days a week.

GENERAL SITE DESCRIPTION Fort Wadsworth is one of the oldest military installations in the Uinited States. The site occupies 226 acres on the north Eastern shore of Staten Island NY, on the Narrows of New York Harbour.

The portion of the site owned by the National Parks Service includes two major Civil War era fortifications that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Battery Weed and Fort Tompkins.
